Resilience in a Box: Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Business Resilience Resources for Small Businesses
# Resilience in a Box: Business Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Resource
Resilience in a Box, developed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation in partnership with The UPS Foundation, offers business leaders a comprehensive set of resources to prepare for disasters and strengthen business resilience. This initiative is especially valuable for small businesses, which often lack the resources to focus adequately on disaster preparedness.
## Purpose and Importance
Small businesses are highly vulnerable to disasters and interruptions. Having a well-developed disaster plan can determine whether a business recovers or closes permanently after a crisis. Resilience in a Box helps businesses prepare for disasters of all kinds, building flexibility to handle potential interruptions.
## Levels of Resilience in a Box
The program is organized into three progressive levels of disaster preparedness and resilience:
### 1. Basic Level
- Provides simple, easy-to-follow steps applicable to all types and sizes of businesses.
- Includes a Business Preparedness Checklist, Top 20 Preparedness Tips, and other helpful collateral materials.
- Designed to establish fundamental preparedness practices.
### 2. Intermediate Level
- Builds on the Basic Level with more detailed readiness tools and tips.
- Features the Business Disaster Resilience 101 Workbook focusing on protecting six critical company assets before disasters.
- Offers enhanced resources to help businesses prepare against all types of hazards and disruptions.
### 3. Advanced Level
- Provides comprehensive Business Continuity and disaster planning solutions.
- Includes the Disaster Resistant Business (DRB) Workbook, which lays a foundation for creating a Business Continuity Plan (BCP), addressing plan elements, training, and preparation.
- Comes with the DRB Toolkit®, an interactive plan-builder application featuring videos, templates, customizable tools, and decision-making aids aimed at preventing disruptions from becoming disasters.
- Note: This level may incur some costs, such as translation services.
- Interested businesses can contact resilience@uschamber.com to learn more.
